The Family Reunion - By: Prentice-Hall
Over the past few years my family began to grow apart. Between school, hobbies, and work, there was never time for us as a family to spend together. We were a family that lacked communication. One Saturday something happened that brought my family together.
It was a typical Saturday evening. Both my parents were reading a magazine. My older brother was painting a picture in the basement, while my two younger sisters and brother were watching TV. I was writing a letter. Outside the rain was coming down so hard that I thought it was hailing. The sound of the rain was accompanied by harsh trembling of thunder and flashes of lightening. The lights in our house began to flicker off and on. Then about 8:00 the lights went off. Everything became real quiet. The voices from TV died. The clocks stopped ticking.
Although we all became temporarily blind, each of us managed to get to the kitchen with only a couple of bruises from running into doors and walls. Each of us took a seat around the table where the candles were lit. My dad began to tell us stories about himself when he was a kid. Eventually, the conversation led up to our futures and what each of us planned to do with it. We all got so caught up with listening to everyone else that when the lights came back on we could not believe it was already 10:00. That night we all want to bed knowing a little more about ourselves and each other.
