Manual failover of standby databaes ...

==On standby ... Force to primary - Manual failover ...
-- make sure the recovery area is not full  -- alter database ... finish will hung
alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
-- ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE STANDBY DATABASE; if not activate
-- alter database clear logfile group 5; -- if you have problem or statement failed
alter database recover managed standby database finish; -- need to wait... check the alert.log file.
select switchover_status from v$database;
-- To primary
alter database commit to switchover to primary;
-- check the log if you get the following error: shutdown the database and start mount again.
-- Errors in file /app/oracle/diag/rdbms/epmtst_pcf/epmtst_pcf/trace/epmtst_pcf_ora_21164.trc:
-- ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource
alter database open;
