Windows generally provides you
with a printing environment that is easy to configure, use, and monitor.
-
Windows has installation
wizards for installing a
printer, we can view the printer features in its properties, and you can
monitor your print job in the print manager.

A printer must have been
previously installed on a network
on another computer and shared
on the network before it can be accessed as a shared printer.
-
Security
is not a big concern in windows
9x
and the printer may have been
set with an access password
if the print server is windows
9x.
-
Higher levels of security may be
set on the printer in other operating systems that offer greater security
such as Windows NT
and Windows 2000
.
-
Printer properties
allow us to view and change some
of the setting of our printers
paper settings, and what is
eventually printed.
-
Printer properties
is a direct way of resolving any
software
problems such as driver
corruption
and some hardware problems such
as printer head cleaning
-
If a slow printer is installed on
the computer, then windows 9x
can take a snap shot of the
print job and place it in an Enhanced Meta File (EMF
) to be converted
in the background to the final
RAW
printer specific image ready for
printing and does not interfere with other applications
that the printer could be using.
-
The direct conversion to a RAW
image without an EMF
file can be slow and processor
intensive which could interfere with other applications
.
-
You can print any documents by
choosing the print option in your application.
-
The print option also allows us
to decide on the paper orientation, which pages to print in the document,
the quality of the printout and the quantity of the printout.
