Location: Washington DC (Close to Metro)

Oracle DBA

 

Location: Washington DC, VA, MD

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Oracle DBA (DBA) role is to support existing Oracle based COTS application. Duties to include performing database maintenance, technical support, supporting on-going application development, installation and upgrades of Oracle and COTS applications at customer sites.

 

DBAs should have:

• 2+ years Oracle Database Administrator experience

• 2+ years Technical Support Experience

• Excellent Troubleshooting Skills

• Excellent written and oral skills

• The ability to perform local travel (DC, VA, MD) as well as occasional long distance travel.

• Proven experience with Oracle 9i in a UNIX Environment.

• Proven experience with PL/SQL

• Oracle Certifications in 8i or higher

 

Experience

• Knowledge of Oracle 9i & 10g (ideal)

• Tuning and troubleshooting Oracle instances

• Building databases in different environments

• Installing Oracle on Linux/UNIX

• Writing and optimizing code in PL/SQL

• Experience configuring and maintaining highly scalable environments

• Knowledge of Oracle RAC is preferred

• Knowledge in Oracle Backup/Recovery Methodologies and Strategies

• UNIX Administration knowledge

• Knowledge of Microsoft IIS is preferred

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003

• Independent position requires excellent organizational skills

• Ability to communicate with upper level management on client site

• Handling periods of high stress

• Ability to multi-task

 

**Job requires on call hours evenings and weekends and generally requires more than 40 hours

per week.**

 

Education

• College degree or equivalent work experience

 

Clearance

For some positions, applicants may need to be the subject of a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

 

Contacts:

Daily work assignments shall be coordinated with and status reported to the Chief, Division of Technology Services.

 

Hours:

The basic work hours shall be as stated in the Contract, however, special assignments may require periodic adjustments to accommodate the schedules of the clients. This may include early morning, late evening and some weekend work.
